Social Events
Monday 6pm -- ICSE Soccer Game
At ICSE in Leipzig we started the ICSE Soccer Game "tradition". We are
continuing this tradition at ICSE in Vancouver with an ICSE
soccer
game held on Monday, May 18 at 6 pm organized by Steve Fickas,
Wilhelm Schaefer, and Hausi Müller. The game will start at 6:00 pm
for 2 x 30 mins until about 7:15 pm. Please be there at 5:45
pm to
warm up and to constitute teams. We hope to have approximately
15-17 players per team so we have some subs throughout the
game
(unlimited substitutions).
The soccer field is about 0.9 km from the conference
hotel. Here is map
with directions to the field from the conference
hotel Westin Bayshore Hotel.
Result
available: The soccer game was taking place in Stanley Park, on a
baseball training field. Lots of rain and slippery terrain. But the two
games were really great! One team was representing North America and
the other team the Rest of the World, with Brasil strongly represented.
The result is that North America was defeated by Rest of the World: 2:4.
Tuesday / Wednesday -- WerewolfMeet at 9 pm in front of Salon A. --- There are a couple of Werewolves among us ... Find them --- Or you get
killed.
Werewolf
is a fun game modeling a battle between an informed minority and an
uninformed majority. Players are secretly assigned roles: either
"werewolf", who know each other; or "townspeople", who know only the
number of werewolves amongst them. During the night phase of the game,
the werewolves choose a townsperson to kill. During the day phase, all
players debate the identities of the werewolf and vote to kill someone
whom the majority suspect. Players are eliminated until either all
werewolves are killed or the werewolves outnumber the townspeople.
We are playing this game as groups of maximal 10 people, each
group having a moderator. We will use circles in the Salon A.

Wednesday -- Poster ReceptionStarts at 7 pm at the Currents Restaurant (near lobby in Westin Bayshore Hotel). Meet and chat with ICSE friends, old and new, while wandering among posters.
Plan
A (good weather): Party with posters inside Currents Restaurant and
outside in the hotel's backyard (where the outdoor pool is). Plan B (bad weather): The event will take place in the Stanley Park Ballroom (upstairs in the conference center).
Thursday -- Vancouver Aquarium
We are excited to announce that our banquet location is the
wonderful Vancouver
Aquarium,
Canada’s largest aquarium. We will start to walk to the aquarium at
18:45 (there are also busses). We are expected to be arrive at
the
aquarium from 19:00 onwards.
Dolphin Show.
Visit BC’s Wild Coast during this show to meet our social and acrobatic
Pacific White-sided Dolphins. Discover how research is revealing more
about the lives of these animals and what we can do to reduce what is
threatening them in the wild. Our dolphine show starts at
19:30.
We
are returning from the aquarium either walking or by bus, at
the
latest at 22:30, but bus shuttles will be available from 21:00 onwards.
